My eyes burn as I watch you overcome your trials, stand in the fire and still walk forward to touch the lives of our residents.

I am awed to see how you leverage adversity and turn it into bravery in the front line fighting this horrible virus that so rudely infiltrated our and our residents’ lives.

You make our community feel stronger as we see you battling your fears, transcending your doubts and releasing your excuses so you visit the places that frighten you.

I grow inspired as I witness your relentless devotion to improving the lives of our very poorly residents.

You clearly get that there are no extra people to do the work. It is up to us all to realise we are built to do epic things and walk with the giants in this exhausting fight.

You get that there is a call on your life, a mission we have to deliver and anything less is to surrender to our fears. Fears that our residents cannot and will never understand but to them we are their last hope.

Heroes aren’t just warriors. Heroes are women and men like you, who each day pursue a silent victory when you see yet another resident getting better. That my friends is a win against all odds.

I know your silent victories on your units and lodges are hard. But please trust me that every season has its end.

So on this day, I want you to know, that you are a gift. You have power beyond what the world and our community acknowledge. You have strength beyond today’s evidence.

I believe this and I know it to be true. We’ll always love you for it. The relatives of our residents will always love you for it.
