The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee which invited people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. With a focus on planting sustainably, The Queen’s Green Canopy will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

Kitnocks House planted a Japanese Acer tree which are associated with peace and serenity of the world’s elements. Japanese maple trees represent balance and practicality and are called “kito” in the Japanese language, which means “calm,”.

The decorative Corten steel plaque that accompanies the tree was created by the Royal British Legion and was made by our Armed Forces veterans.

Kitnocks House is operated by ‘Complex Care Provider of the Year’, Cornerstone Healthcare Group who have planted trees and installed plaques in their two other care homes, South Africa Lodge in Waterlooville and Marula Lodge in Mytchett. Cornerstone’s CEO, Johann van Zyl said “Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee was an event that we will never witness again in our lifetime! We wanted to honour this piece of history in our homes so that generations to come will be reminded of Her Majesty’s truly remarkable reign”.
