Specialist end of life training

Two of our fantastic team members completed their end of life training organized by Countess Mountbatten House Education.

Senior Nurse, Maria Micu and Activities Lead, Chantzine Shafiie completed the Six Steps to Success programme and are now sharing and implementing their learning in Kitnocks House, our service in Curdridge.

The Six Steps to Success Programme encompasses the philosophy of palliative care under pinned by national guidance.

The programme aims to improve the identification, treatment and care management of patients/residents approaching end of life as set out in the Ambitions for Palliative & End of Life Care (2015-2020) with a core focus of achieving good quality end of life care through organisational change and supporting staff to develop their roles, responsibilities, knowledge and skills around end of life care.

Chantzine said “The training was really informative and we have already started to make small changes within our service, including creating a booklet for families to read in their own time that answers most of the questions they may have when a relative is at the end of their life. This training has given us the confidence to make sure that the residents and their families are fully supported.”
