Local Hero – Care home worker celebrated for dedication to her residents
A local care home worker has been praised by the company’s senior managers for her commitment and dedication to the residents she looks after.
Chantzine Shafiie, Activities Lead at Cornerstone Healthcare Group’s Kitnocks House, in Curdridge, was awarded the company’s coveted “Leader without a title award” in a small ceremony last week.

The award has only been presented once before and is for individuals who inspire, lead and motivate their peers and managers, regardless of their job title.
Cornerstone’s CEO, Johann van Zyl said
“It’s a delight to award Chatzine with this honour, her drive and enthusiasm is infectious and she lights up any room that she’s in. Chantzine’s dedication to our residents is second to none and is constantly recognised by her colleagues and our resident’s families.”
Chantzine, who has worked for specialist care provider, Cornerstone Healthcare, since 2012 said
“It was an amazing shock! I never expected to be praised like this for just doing my job. During lockdown, our residents have been unable to see their families or go out so it’s vital that we can offer them support to stay in touch in lots of different ways. My team has worked hard to ensure this has happened during these difficult times.
It can be hard for our residents who may not understand why they can’t see their family, two-way communication is so important, especially when a loved one is on end of life care.”
Chantzine was presented with her award at a small company ceremony at the Meon Valley Hotel.
